Kazuyuki Ide

Kazuyuki Ide

Mr. Ide oversees IDC Japan’s Digital Marketplace, Green IT , Security and Service Groups, which provide five Continuous Intelligence Services -- Digital Marketplace, Security Products and Services, IT Services Opportunities and Contenders, Outsourcing and IT Services Technologies. His own research focus is Digital Marketplace, which includes technologies and services in enterprise and consumer activities via IP-based channels. He has also had experience in custom research and has made many presentations at IDC and other events.

Before joining IDC in 2003, Mr. Ide was responsible for software development, product planning, product marketing for Fuji Xerox. Mr. Ide was later involved in the establishment of a security software vendor, where he was also responsible for management and administration. He has a B.S. in engineering from Tokyo University.

 

Carl Hoffman

CEO and Chairman - Basis Technology

Carl Hoffman

Carl founded Basis Technology in 1995 to provide rapid software internationalization services to American companies entering Asian markets. Since then, the company has grown to become the leading provider of technology for software globalization and multilingual information retrieval. During 2000, Carl concurrently held the position of VP Asia for Amazon.com, and in 2001 was honored by the Massachusetts eCommerce industry association for his leadership in launching Amazon.com Japan. Carl was educated at MIT where he also spent eight years on the research staff at the MIT Laboratory for Computer Science.

 

Steve Cohen

Executive Vice President - Basis Technology

Steve Cohen

Steve co-founded Basis Technology with Carl Hoffman in 1995. He is responsible for the planning and operations of Basis Technology’s linguistic product research and development. Prior to starting Basis Technology, Steve was the engineering manager for Cognex Corporation’s Tokyo office and development manager for SMT device inspection. He has consulted on software internationalization for Foxboro Corporation and started his career as an embedded systems engineer at Teradyne. Steve earned a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from MIT and studied at Waseda University in Tokyo.

 

Andrew McKay

Andrew McKay

Andrew McKay is Senior Vice President of Sales at Attivio. Andrew brings to Attivio over 20 years experience in executive, sales, and engineering positions in the software industry. Before joining Attivio, he was SVP of Products at GCi, where he led Product Strategy, Product Management and Marketing. Prior to that, he was at Fast Search & Transfer as Vice President of various departments, most of which he created from inception: Product Marketing, U.S. and European Sales, global Technical Sales, and FAST University.

revious to FAST Andrew was CTO of Praedictus Corporation, a real-time process control company, managing all technical operations and product direction; and Chief Technical Evangelist at Hummingbird Communications, directing the North American Sales Engineering organization for ETL and Business Intelligence products. Other positions included CTO, Leonard’s Logic, an ETL company; Senior Technical Evangelist and Senior Architect for the Systems Management Products Division at Sybase; and Senior Engineer and Founding Partner of Deft Software Incorporated, a CASE tool company. He also successfully ran his own independent consulting firm. Leonard’s Logic, Deft, and the consulting firm were all sold to larger concerns; Andrew was a principal player in each deal.

Andrew specializes in high-performance, real-time search and statistical analysis; user interface analysis and design; and data warehousing, OLAP, business intelligence and relational technologies. He has published numerous articles and whitepapers in all of these fields.

 

Sid Probstein

Chief Technology Officer - Attivio

Sid Probstein

Sid Probstein is Chief Technology Officer at Attivio, responsible for technology strategy and innovation.

Sid brings to Attivio more than 15 years experience leading successful engineering organizations and building complex, high-performance systems.

Previously, he was CTO at GCi, where he headed up development of the company’s next generation commerce platform. He also served as Vice President of Technology at Fast Search & Transfer, where he developed next-generation search, text mining and multimedia capabilities, and applied them for some of the world’s most interesting companies.

Sid also served as VP, Engineering at Northern Light Technology, where he produced the very first enterprise version of the award-winning search engine; Director of Software Engineering at Freemark Communications, where he helped implement the first “free” email service; and Principal Architect/System Manager at John Hancock Financial Services.

 

David Ponzini

Senior Vice President - Mark Logic

David Ponzini

Dave brings to Mark Logic more than 20 years of high technology experience. Prior to joining Mark Logic, Dave was vice president of corporate and business development at AlarmPoint Systems. Before that, Dave served as vice president of corporate and business development at Verity, Inc., where he was responsible for the acquisition and integration of four companies. Previously he was vice president of business development at Inktomi, where he managed partner strategy and key business relationships.

 

Ron Avnur

Vice President, Engineering - Mark Logic

Ron has been working in the fields of database management systems and enterprise search engines for over 10 years, and joined Mark Logic Corporation in 2003. Ron held engineering, consulting and pre-sales positions at Cohera, a distributed database startup eventually acquired by PeopleSoft. In other positions, he helped lead business development at Business Layers, a security software startup acquired by Netegrity and also served as a programmer at Informix Software, which was purchased by IBM in 2001. Ron holds a bachelors degree in electrical engineering and computer science and a masters degree in computer science from University of California, Berkeley.
