Dysfunction, Dysregulation in the AI Ecosystem

New AI products have arrived like a new gas uncorked from a cylinder, expanding and leaving no part of our world untouched. Their arrival has been met by endless discussion as to whether they are good or bad, but perhaps this is a reductionist and unhelpful way to describe AI systems. Perhaps instead we should classify AI systems as healthy or diseased. This framing is actionable, guiding us to how we should respond, both to the AI systems we can control and the ones we don’t.

Like biological organisms, AI systems experience malnutrition, parasites, mental disorders, autoimmune disease, cancer, and many other forms of dysregulation. Join us for a discussion exploring how AI dysfunction arises and what we can do about it.
