Cambridge, MA—March 12, 2009—Basis Technology Corporation (www.basistech.com), the leading provider of multilingual text analytics, today announced that comScore, a leader in measuring the digital world, has licensed its Rosette® Language Identifier (RLI) for integration into comScore’s proprietary data collection systems. RLI enables comScore to automatically identify the languages and character sets of the web pages visited by consumers in their 2 million person-panel.
The Rosette Language Identifier enables applications to quickly and accurately determine the language and encoding of incoming data for proper handling. RLI recognizes 55 written languages, streamlining text processing for any application which must process and search from diverse data sources such as email, web pages, legacy systems, and data feeds.
“The results from RLI were exactly what we needed,” said Michael Brown, EVP of comScore. “As a global provider of digital market intelligence, we observe the online behavior of millions of people visiting web pages from all over the world. Basis Technology provided us with an easy to implement solution to identify the language of web page content visited by our panelists, enabling us to segment audiences by their dominant language and improve the overall quality of our audience reporting.”
“Rosette Language Identifier is a fast and robust module which delivers text analytics throughout many vertical markets, such as e-discovery, publishing, business intelligence, CRM, social networking, and content management,” said Steven Cohen, EVP of Basis Technology. “We’re pleased that RLI is helping comScore to provide meaningful Internet market data to their worldwide customer base.”
