UK Home Office Chooses BasisTech for Name Screening

BasisTech announces that its AI-driven name matching technology, Rosette® Name Indexer, has been licensed by the UK Home Office in a multi-year deal for £4.8 million ($5.98 million USD). The software will be used within the Home Office Border, Immigration and Citizenship System (BICS) for screening passengers through the UK border control process and for digital passenger immigration application and enforcement processing.

“We are proud the UK Home Office has entrusted Rosette to provide matching of names and identities in the high-stakes environment of border security,” said Steve Cohen, COO and co-founder of BasisTech. “This deal highlights the continued trend of security and law enforcement organizations adopting Rosette to meet the increasing challenges within these arenas.”

The artificial intelligence (AI) within Rosette encodes human understanding of the languages and cultures of names, and examines every pair of names or identity records in numerous ways to accurately assess how closely they match. For accountability and to enable easy configuration of its match behavior, Rosette is designed to clearly show how each match was calculated.

Rosette Name Indexer enables watchlist screening by border security agencies, including U.S. Customs and Border Protection, as well as for the financial compliance sector, including Refinitiv and Uphold.
