Basis Technology’s Linguistic Software Enables Mimosa Systems to Deliver Content Archiving
to Asian Markets
– Advanced Chinese and Japanese search allows content archiving system customers to comply with Asian regulatory requirements –
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., August 27, 2008 — Basis Technology Corporation (www.basistech.com) and Mimosa Systems announced today that Mimosa has globalized its next-generation file archiving system, NearPoint™, using Basis Technology’s Rosette® Linguistics Platform to provide advanced Chinese and Japanese search functionality. With the enhanced NearPoint system, Mimosa’s Asian customers can now search through terabytes of archived data to be sure they are adhering to government regulations on management and retention of business records similar to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act in the U.S.
“Enhancing NearPoint’s searching capabilities for Japanese and Chinese customers is an important step for managing email and documents,” said T.M. Ravi, CEO of Mimosa Systems. “With JSOX, the Japanese equivalent of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act taking effect, and China’s adoption of Sarbanes-Oxley standards, Mimosa NearPoint is addressing critical business and regulatory requirements for companies in Asia. Integrating Basis Technology’s linguistic smarts allows NearPoint to perform in-depth searches that produce the accurate results our Chinese and Japanese customers need.”
The Rosette Linguistics Platform’s multilingual functionality is featured in some of the world’s most widely used information retrieval and text mining applications. It enables information retrieval applications and search engines to understand queries and search web pages in foreign languages by providing a linguistic analysis of each word. Rosette performs critical functions, from identifying the language of incoming documents to preparing the text for search with word segmentation, decompounding, and part-of-speech analysis. Each product incorporates an extensive knowledge base of the nuances of each language, enabling applications to deliver reliable, accurate search results in many languages.
“Mimosa is tackling a critical requirement for Asian companies – their responsibility for managing email and documents and abiding by regulatory requirements,” said Carl Hoffman, CEO of Basis Technology. “We’re pleased to support Mimosa in providing world-class content archiving solutions for Asian markets.”
