Intelligence Community/Basis Technology Highlight Program Managers Meeting (TS)

The Highlight language analysis suite from Basis Technology is an advanced software capability which boosts the accuracy and productivity of intelligence analysts and military linguists working in Arabic, Dari, Farsi, Pashto, and Urdu. It is currently being applied to IC and DOD missions in such areas as DOCEX, MEDEX, HUMINT, OSINT, SIGINT, and GEOINT of raw intelligence from Middle Eastern sources. Highlight runs on ordinary laptop and desktop computers, and includes multiple components, including Transliteration Assistant (XA) (plug-in for Microsoft Office); Knowledge Center (rapid access to foreign language reference materials); Geoscope Map Viewer (foreign language map viewer) and Arabic Editor.

Current and prospective program managers of Highlight and other tools from Basis Technology are invited to join this meeting, jointly sponsored by the DIA Center for Language, Regional Expertise and Culture (LREC) and the ODNI Foreign Language Program Office (FLPO). This USG-only meeting will have sessions at TS level to allow participants to freely discuss applications and requirements of Highlight and other HLT products.

The program will include presentations, case studies, and tutorials covering such areas as foreign name matching and normalization; transliteration best practices; multilingual document triage; and accessing foreign language maps and reference materials. Specific Basis Technology products to be demonstrated will include Transliteration Assistant (XA), Knowledge Center, Geoscope Map Viewer, and Arabic Editor, as well as new products currently under development.

This event is also your opportunity to meet with Basis Technology’s system architects and software developers, as well as USG foreign language program managers to provide your input into the development of the next generation of HLT tools.
